JD Health and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Beijing signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Apr. 21, 2021, aiming to join forces with respective advantages to connect the Danish and Chinese markets in the health industry and explore the “Internet + Healthcare” model for mutual benefits.

Immediately under the signing of the MOU, JD Health is launching a Danish Health Pavilion online, which helps to better facilitate Danish brands’ on-boarding and marketing on JD.com and at the same time provide more comprehensive and convenient healthcare products and services for the users on the platform.
“JD Health would like to open our capabilities and core strength in supply chain, technologies, big data and more to deepen cooperation with premier overseas partners,” said Lijun Xin, CEO of JD Health during the signing ceremony at JD’s headquarters in Beijing, in recognition of Denmark’s world-leading capabilities and experience in the health industry. “By promoting such multilateral cooperation, we can create value for all the participants in the health value chain and in turn provide better health management services for our customers.”

“This MoU signing represents a joint interest in developing the cooperation,” said H.E. Thomas Østrup Møller, Denmark’s ambassador to China, who sees strong appeals in China’s e-commerce market and the fast digital transformation of the health industry.

“Health is an area where Denmark has much to offer—with both ‘over the counter (OTC)‘ products and more sophisticated technologies within life science,” ambassador Møller said. “This cooperation will not only allow both sides to explore B2C opportunities but also the large and more sophisticated B2B collaboration opportunities.”
“With the help of the consulate and JD Health as one of the most important platforms in China, we believe our products have a huge potential to be successful in the Chinese market,” said Jesper Pedersen, founder and CEO of Camette via a video at the ceremony. The Danish nutritional supplement maker recently joined the pilot plan enabled by the MoU.
Denmark-based hearing aid provider GN Resound and JD Health inked a cooperation agreement on the same day. “By combining our distributor’s vast network of 3,500 stores with the JD Health platform we can reach more users than ever and help grow the hearing aid adoption rate in the Chinese population,” said Mr. Jakob Sonnenberg, managing director of GN Resound China.

Denmark’s life science industry is its largest area of export. The collaboration with JD Health is a concrete action that fits into the country’s life science strategy that will be beneficial for Danish growth, cooperation partners and Chinese consumers, according to Dr. Kristian Teglkamp, the counsellor and head of health and life sciences from the Danish Embassy in Beijing.
“Through this MOU we can offer a great business opportunity to Danish companies that take great pride in values like safety and quality, from production to end user— and share a customer focus,” said Dr. Teglkamp.
