Starbucks launched a flagship store on JD.com on March 3. The online store brings Chinese consumers the brand’s new spring mugs, such as the Sakura Blossom Collection, together with its classic series, including the core classic series, and Starbucks Heritage.
IEEE and ACM fellow Dr. He Tian joined JD.com as vice president and the head of JD Logistics AI and Data Science. Dr. He’s team will build dedicated, intelligent algorithms and systems for supply chain and logistics scenarios, which will further digitalize JD Logistics’ current businesses and open up commercial applications for more external clients. Dr. He received a Ph.D. degree from the University of Virginia. He is the recipient of the National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award and China NSF Outstanding Overseas Young Researcher.
The band “8772” formed by rare disease patients performed at JD’s rare diseases project care press conference on Feb. 27. “8772” is the transformation of BTTZ, the initial letters of the Chinese pronunciation of “illness challenges”.
JD Health announced to establish the rare diseases care project on Feb. 27, ahead of the World Rare Disease Day which will fall on the last day of February each year. The project will first focus on the building of a Rare Disease Care Center under JD Pharmacy and the establishment of a dedicated fund for patients with rare diseases.
China Railway Express Co., Ltd. (CRE) and JD Logistics (JDL) announced the establishment of a joint stock company, China Railway JD Logistics Ltd. (中铁京东物流有限公司), on Mar. 5. The company will focus on the areas of railway express, e-commerce logistics, logistics equipment and facilities and information service, and promoting technological innovations.

JD launched its first cargo flight between China and the U.S. on Jun. 7. The route between Nanjing Jiangsu province and Los Angeles will facilitate the transport of quality Chinese products to the U.S. and vice versa.
Over 100 automated ground vehicles (AGVs) were put into use in JD’s 27,000 square-meter logistics center in Lhasa, Tibet on Jun. 9, making it the largest smart warehouse in this autonomous region. JD will further develop its logistics infrastructure in Tibet, building more warehouses, transfer and distribution hubs, to serve better local customers and help Tibet’s specialties reach the rest of the nation.
JD Logistics announced on Jun. 10 that it will upgrade the service of its autonomous delivery vehicles during this year’s 618 Grand Promotion to satisfy consumers’ demands whenever and wherever. JD.ID appointed the star actress, Cinta Laura as its brand ambassador, on Jun. 10. Cinta Laura is an Indonesian-German actress, electropop singer and model who was appointed ambassador of anti-violence against women and children by the Indonesian Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection in 2019.

Students in Suqian Xianlin Campus of Nanjing Foreign Language School had a penalty kick competition on a new soccer field made of recycled plastic bottles on Jun. 4. The field has been constructed using recycled plastic bottles. Last year, over 20,000 families joined the bottle recycling program launched by JD Green Stream Initiative and P&G Beauty.
JD Health and Sanofi China announced to expand existing collaboration to building general and digitalized health management solutions for patients with chronic diseases in China on Jun 1. Based on the “internet + healthcare” model, the cooperation aims to benefit more patients across the country with premier medical services and relieve pressure on the overloaded public medical system.

JD.com’s international business, JD Worldwide, signed a partnership with Ping An Bank’s Shenzhen branch on May 31, to collaborate on foreign trade services including bank account service, cross-border finance, offshore finance, supply chain finance, e-finance and more.
JD.com and Chang’an Ford signed an agreement to further deepen cooperation on May 28 in Chongqing to ensure the supply of a full line of Chang’an Ford’s products through JD.com together with timely after-sale services.
