On October 22nd, JD Logistics held its annual Global Smart Supply Chain Summit (GSSC) virtually online. Under this year’s theme of “Open Capabilities, Shared Growth”, the summit invited industry leaders from logistics, commerce and technology to share their views on global supply chain development and acceleration of economic recovery. Some of the guest speakers include Paul Romer, the co-recipient of the 2018 Nobel Prize in Economics and professor at New York University; Justin Yifu Lin, former chief economist of the World Bank and Honorary Dean of National School of Development at Peking University; Yossi Sheffi, director of MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics; Martin Christopher, emeritus professor of marketing & logistics at Cranfield University, UK; and Xiaobo Wu, a financial author.
JD announced on October 22nd that a city-level autonomous delivery robot project is being operated on a daily basis in Changshu, Jiangsu province, a top 5 county-level city by GDP in China. JD plans to put 100 autonomous delivery robots into operations in the city by the end of this year to facilitate Changshu in building smart city.
Dr. Jianguang Shen, Chief Economist at JD Digits, spoke at the opening session of the World Economic Forum’s Job Reset Summit on October 20th and shared his thoughts on China’s economic recovery and consumption trends under the theme of the “New Economic Context”.
Ping An Bank, a Chinese joint-stock commercial bank and JD Digits, a leading digital technology provider backed by JD.com, jointly launched the “Ping An-JD IOU credit card” on October 20th. Additionally, the two parties will collaborate in retail, business finance, wealth management, financial market, smart marketing, intelligent risk control and digital finance in the future.
This Singles Day (November 11th), JD has newly added two Asia No.1 fulfillment centers in Changchun, the provincial capital of Jilin province and Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia. JD is now operating 30 Asia No.1 fulfillment centers which are considered to be Asia’s largest intelligent warehouse clusters.
JD hosted a press conference on October 19th to announce plans for its upcoming Singles Day Grand Promotion at its headquarters in Beijing. At the conference, Simon Han, vice president at JD provided further color on JD’s plans for the upcoming shopping festival, with a focus on how customers can get the most out of their Singles Day experience. JD launched its first cargo flight between China and the U.S. on Jun. 7. The route between Nanjing Jiangsu province and Los Angeles will facilitate the transport of quality Chinese products to the U.S. and vice versa.
Over 100 automated ground vehicles (AGVs) were put into use in JD’s 27,000 square-meter logistics center in Lhasa, Tibet on Jun. 9, making it the largest smart warehouse in this autonomous region. JD will further develop its logistics infrastructure in Tibet, building more warehouses, transfer and distribution hubs, to serve better local customers and help Tibet’s specialties reach the rest of the nation.
JD Logistics announced on Jun. 10 that it will upgrade the service of its autonomous delivery vehicles during this year’s 618 Grand Promotion to satisfy consumers’ demands whenever and wherever. Cinta Laura is an Indonesian-German actress, electropop singer and model who was appointed ambassador of anti-violence against women and children by the Indonesian Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection in 2019.

Students in Suqian Xianlin Campus of Nanjing Foreign Language School had a penalty kick competition on a new soccer field made of recycled plastic bottles on Jun. 4. The field has been constructed using recycled plastic bottles. Last year, over 20,000 families joined the bottle recycling program launched by JD Green Stream Initiative and P&G Beauty.
JD Health and Sanofi China announced to expand existing collaboration to building general and digitalized health management solutions for patients with chronic diseases in China on Jun 1. Based on the “internet + healthcare” model, the cooperation aims to benefit more patients across the country with premier medical services and relieve pressure on the overloaded public medical system.
JD.com’s 618 Grand Promotion (Jun. 1-18) officially began at 00:00am on Jun 1. Four minutes after paying the remaining balance on her pre-sale order, Ms. Wang, a resident of Changshu, Jiangsu province, received the skin care set she ordered, delivered by JD’s autonomous delivery robot.
JD Logistics and GSP Automotive Group inked a partnership on May 31, in which JD will assist GSP in building a global auto parts industrial chain platform utilizing the company’s long-established integrated supply chain solutions. JD.com’s international business, JD Worldwide, signed a partnership with Ping An Bank’s Shenzhen branch on May 31, to collaborate on foreign trade services including bank account service, cross-border finance, offshore finance, supply chain finance, e-finance and more.
JD.com and Chang’an Ford signed an agreement to further deepen cooperation on May 28 in Chongqing to ensure the supply of a full line of Chang’an Ford’s products through JD.com together with timely after-sale services.
