JD to Establish Unmanned Distribution Institute in Jiangsu Province

JD Logistics has chosen Changshu, Jiangsu province as the location to establish its Unmanned Distribution Research Institute, to carry out a series of autonomous delivery research projects. The collaboration is part of the innovative incubation programs of Changshu National University Science and Technology Park.
This institute will focus on smart logistics solutions such as smart warehousing, automated logistics and autonomous delivery vehicles.
Qi Kong, Chief Scientist and head of Autonomous Driving at JD Logistics introduced that JD will build Changshu into the world’s leading advanced logistics city with multiple autonomous delivery zones, which will be connected and eventually develop into a street network enabling greater scale of autonomous delivery services.
During the fight against COVID-19 earlier this year, JD Logistics deployed its delivery robots to support delivery tasks in Wuhan, the first epidemic epicenter in China.

This collaboration, which began in 2022 with operations in Australia, now extends to MINISO’s network in Malaysia.

MINISO’s diverse product range and rapid restocking requirements, combined with its strategic store locations in bustling commercial areas, present unique logistical challenges. JD Logistics has effectively met these demands through reliable and adaptable warehousing and fulfillment service solutions.
Notably, the trust built with MINISO has led some store managers to entrust their store keys to JD Logistics’ drivers to facilitate smooth and timely deliveries. Among them is JD Logistics driver Nick Yang, responsible for delivering goods to all MINISO stores in Sydney. Yang’s daily schedule involves commuting between JD Logistics’ warehouse and approximately 10 MINISO outlets throughout the city.
Over the next three years, JD Logistics will continue to develop its comprehensive global supply chain logistics network, which integrates overseas warehouses, international transshipment hubs, local distribution networks, and transnational transportation networks.
This partnership is not only a testament to JD Logistics’ proven expertise and global operational capabilities but also underscores the commitment of both companies to foster innovation in supply chain management for retail operations worldwide.

JD.com Awarded 2024 INFORMS Prize for Excellence in Operations Research and Analytics
JD.com is honored to announce that it has been awarded the 2024 INFORMS Prize. This recognition makes JD.com the first Asia-based enterprise to receive the award, highlighting its pioneering use of advanced analytics and operations research/management sciences (OR/MS) within its business operations.
The INFORMS Prize is awarded an organization that has repeatedly applied the principles of advanced analytics and OR/MS in pioneering, varied, novel, and lasting ways. Previous recipients include Walmart, Wayfair, Amazon, UPS, Booz Allen Hamilton, BNSF Railway, Walt Disney Company, U.S. Air Force, General Motors, Intel, HP, IBM, Ford, Procter & Gamble and GE Research.
