A JD logistics van loaded with 200 protective gowns arrived in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province (300 km south of Beijing) at 11 am on Jan. 16. Donated by the Xujiapeng sub-district of Wuhan. The donation is the first to be transported to Shijiazhuang after JD’s launch of a special transportation channel for global aid to Hebei province. Hebei has seen a cluster of COVID-19 outbreaks in the last few weeks.

“Several areas of Shijiazhuang donated UV light sterilizers and goggles to us during the height of COVID-19 in February last year in Wuhan,” said a representative from Wuhan’s Xujiapeng sub-district. “We should lend a helping hand to support people in Shijiazhuang to weather this period.”

As soon as JD received the request, the company dispatched staff and vehicles to collect and transport the aid materials using both road and railway transportation.

On Jan. 14, JD announced that it will continue supporting customers with delivery during the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday, as it has done for nine consecutive years. The company will provide nearly RMB 100 million yuan in subsidies for its staff working during the holiday.
