JD Health and Omron Join Hands to Explore Intelligent Health Management Solutions

JD Health’s heart center and Japanese electronics manufacturer Omron reached an agreement on October 12th to deepen cooperation on co-creating intelligent health management solutions for chronic diseases.

Under the cooperation agreement, the two sides will use their respective advantageous resources to offer more convenient, professional and creative health management services, including co-designing devices for blood pressure management, telemedicine services, and more.

Dr. Hu Dayi, one of China’s top cardiologists and the leading expert of JD Health’s heart center, attended the cooperation launching ceremony. He noted that there is an urgent need to facilitate frequent communication between chronic disease patients and their doctors, for the purposes of monitoring their real-time health conditions.

“I’m pleased to see the cooperation between JD Health’s heart center and Omron,”  Hu said. “The realization of data connection, daily blood pressure monitoring and recording are of great help for patients’ chronic diseases management and rehabilitation.”

Omron opened its professional health research center in 1961, which provides home-based health monitoring services, effective assistance on disease prevention and treatment, and intelligent health management connection between homes and hospitals. Through the cooperation, the two sides aim to bring a one-stop and closed-loop blood pressure management experience that are supported by hardware, software and telehealth services, according to Yao Zhao, general manager of Omron Healthcare (China) Co., Ltd.

JD Health’s platform is able to connect with doctors, medical institutions and medical instrument manufacturers on a large scale, and can provide full life cycle health management services for its users through big data sharing.

Lijun Xin, CEO of JD Health, said that the company will continue to put its users at the center to carry forward services for more special diseases both online and offline, promoting greater connection and integration of China’s medical resources.

JD Health’s heart center currently consists of four departments: cardiology, cardiac surgery, prevention and rehabilitation, and psycho-cardiology. Led by Dr. Hu, the center offers access to more than 700 cardiovascular experts in China via telemedicine services.

JD Provides Integrated Services for iPhone 12 Launch

With pre-ordering for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 PRO having kicked off on October 16th, and official sales opening October 23rd, JD has launched a series of services from pre-sale to post sales, guaranteeing customers a good shopping experience.

JD’s customers who buy the new iPhone can enjoy a special old-for-new exchange policy to lower the cost of the new phone, and up to RMB 1,500 yuan subsidies for purchasing a new iPhone, as well as recharge coupons, a special 5G package for new telecom users, and more.

By leveraging JD’s nationwide logistics capabilities and partnering with JD Daojia and 10 authorized Apple suppliers covering 500 offline stores, JD will also provide customers with one-hour delivery service based on LBS (Location Based Services), enabling fast and high quality last mile delivery service.

Malaysian Ambassador Eyes Close Cooperation With JD

The Malaysian embassy in Beijing hopes to establish close cooperation with JD and provide support for the company’s import and export business, H.E. Raja Dato’ Nushirwan Zainal Abidin, the Malaysian ambassador to China said at a meeting with JD’s international business executives on October 19th .

The ambassador led a delegation visiting JD’s headquarters in Beijing and met president of JD’s international business Xiaobing Yan, and other executives, including Dr. Wenkai Lyu, president of Asia and Pacific Business of JD.com.

The ambassador said that he admires the fast development of private Chinese enterprises like JD. The Malaysian government and its embassy in China will work more closely with the Chinese government and enterprises.

“JD hopes to deepen communication with the Malaysian government and help Malaysian merchants explore the Chinese market,” said Yan, who is also a senior vice president of JD.

Yan said that JD hopes to make use of its strong supply chain to provide the best quality products for Malaysian consumers. Meanwhile, JD hopes to bring more quality Malaysian products to the Chinese market with the help of the Malaysian government.

Yan added that, as a supply chain-based technology and services enterprise, JD has been exploring markets in Southeast Asia, including Thailand and Indonesia, cooperating with local governments and enterprises. While achieving business growth, JD’s presence in the region has also advanced local industrial upgrade and boosted the economy.

JD Launches Integrated Technology Service Solutions for Enterprises

JD has launched a technology service brand Dianjiezhi(电解智,pronounces same as 电解质 electrolyte, literally means e-solution wisdom) , which provides integrated technology service solutions for enterprises, in order to facilitate their digital transformation and to make their supply chain more agile. This has been announced during an offline event on October 15th.

Chunzheng Song, president of JD Business said, “Digitalization, network and intelligence are key factors for the next wave of technological and industrial revolution, especially for a company’s supply chain. JD aims to open up and share its long-term capabilities in technology, product and application experience with enterprises, in order to promote their business sustainability.”

There are several challenges for enterprises going digital. First, data is generally not shared among companies. Second, it can be difficult to apply and test the technology in real scenarios. In response to these challenges, JD’s newly launched solutions can integrate technology and services together, building and designing top-level technology, connecting different data and supporting operations. The services will cover the integrated process from pre-purchase to post-sales.

With seven years of operation, JD’s Business department has already served over 8 million enterprise clients in multiple industries. During the pandemic, JD has created a SaaS platform for business procurement, providing 1.31 million clients with a stable and efficient service, helping them resume production and operation.

Going forward, JD will continue to make the solution more comprehensive and tailored for each enterprise.

JD Reveals Singles Day Plans in its Beijing Headquarters

JD hosted a press conference on October 19 to announce plans for its upcoming Singles Day Grand Promotion at its headquarters in Beijing. At the conference, JD Vice President Simon Han provided further color on JD’s plans for the upcoming shopping festival, with a focus on how customers can get the most out of their Singles Day experience. Han explained that 2020 was a very trying time for China and the global economy. With China’s epidemic prevention and control now entering a period of normalization, Singles Day is key in the continued revitalization of consumers.

Among the highlights cited by Han, JD will offer more than 200 million goods at 50% off. New products will also be a big focus of Singles Day this year. Han announced at the conference that JD will offer 300 million items of new products during the 21-day festival period.

Han explained that livestreaming, which was a key element of the 618 Grand Promotion, will continue to play an important role in this years’ Singles Day. JD will invite over 300 celebrities and over 500 executives into its livestreaming room. November 10th, “JD Live Super Night 2020” will see over 30 blockbuster stars, yet to be revealed, join. Gamification promises to keep consumers engaged throughout the shopping season. JD has several online games where consumers can earn cash or even free fruit.

During Singles Day, PLUS privileges are expected to save RMB 16 billion yuan for members of JD PLUS, the premium membership program. JD PLUS will contribute RMB 1 billion in rights and subsidies. A limited number of members will be able to get the JD PLUS “buy one get 10” membership card, getting access to benefits from life services platform Meituan, ride hailing platform Didi Chuxing, Burger King and more. PLUS members will also enjoy 5% off from the PLUS brand alliance which includes over 730 brands. November 8th, which has been designated as PLUS DAY, will enable members to enjoy 20-times JD beans (京豆)across all categories. As announced on October 16th, JD PLUS has exceeded 20 million members.

In shopping festivals, one of the most daunting things is how to navigate the myriad of coupons available to consumers given that some are full category, some are across the platform, and some are buy X/deduct Y, while others are a certain percentage discount. JD takes the guesswork out by automatically calculating the most advantageous combination of coupons across the platform at checkout based on what’s in the shopping cart.

JD’s Singles Day is not only online but multi-channel. Over one million stores in JD’s omnichannel ecosystem will attend the festivities. In some cases, location-based-services (LBS) will provide connectivity between online and offline promotions. Furthermore, services like JD’s full-price trade-in service, refund without return, the price guarantee from JD Super, JD’s online supermarket, and more will ensure consumers a worry-free Singles Day shopping experience.

During the press conference, ahead of the announcement of its Singles Day plans, the company officially released its pre-recorded talk show, which was simultaneously broadcasted on JD Live and to the audience. The show invited popular Chinese comedians as well as JD employees, including a courier, a customer service representative and a buyer, to give a monologue expressing some of the common frustrations with online shopping, while JD Retail CEO Lei Xu and JD Vice President Simon Han provided commentary on each of the performances and provided detailed explanations of how JD ensures customers steer clear of such concerns.

For example, one comedian expressed that he bought a 1.8 meter mattress for a 1.5 meter bed from an e-commerce platform, and that the time it took to contact customer service, fill in confusing forms about the return, and more exceeded the seven-day return window. JD executives highlighted the company’s 30-day return guarantee for large home appliances as one of the many benefits for choosing JD for these types of products. The audience erupted in laughter throughout. This is the first time for JD to use such a format to communicate its Singles Day strategy.

JD to Hold Fifth Global Smart Supply Chain Summit

JD Logistics will host its Global Smart Supply Chain Summit (GSSC) on October 22nd. The summit, which is in its fifth year, will discuss how digital supply chain can drive economic and industrial development.

The summit will be held online for the first time. Under the impact of pandemic, the global supply chain has encountered great challenges but also opportunities.

JD has invited industry leaders from logistics, commerce and technology to share their views on global supply chain development and acceleration of economic recovery. Some of the guest speakers include Paul Romer, the co-recipient of the 2018 Nobel Prize in Economics and professor at New York University; Justin Yifu Lin, former chief economist of the World Bank and Honorary Dean of National School of Development at Peking University; Yossi Sheffi, director of MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics; Martin Christopher, Emeritus Professor of Marketing & Logistics at Cranfield University; and Xiaobo Wu, a financial author. Romer will share his thoughts on global and Chinese economic development, while Lin will share his view on the “dual circulation” growth model in China.

In addition, Yossi Sheffi, Martin Christopher and Xiaobo Wu will delve into other topics concerning global economic development and supply chain.

JD Helps Guizhou Farmers in Boosting Kiwi Fruit Sales

Jun Zhan is one of the most successful kiwi fruit growers in Xinming, a village located in Guiyang, the provincial capital of Guizhou province in the southwest of China. Thanks to JD.com, his kiwis were able to sell across the country despite the impact of the pandemic.

Xinming village is expected to produce 200,000 kilograms of kiwi fruit this year, twice the amount produced last year. In fact, at the beginning of this year, that outcome was unthinkable.

As a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, very few wholesalers came to Xinming earlier this year. Like many other growers, Zhan was afraid his kiwi harvest would rot. If he lost this year’s kiwis, it would wipe out his business, in which he had invested his entire fortune.

Although more and more farmers around the country are leveraging e-commerce to sell their products, most of the kiwi growers in Xinming are elderly people who have never stepped out of their village. Before this year, they had little knowledge of buying online, let alone selling through the internet.

Zhan’s two daughters, Liyuan and Liya, were born in the 1990s. When the pandemic threatened to bankrupt their father’s business, they (together with Yawen Wan, a local village employee around their age) wanted to do something to change the situation. They decided to contact JD’s branch company in Guizhou.

When Yangxi Wei from JD’s Guizhou branch heard the young women’s story, he quickly helped them draft an integrated sales plan from marketing to sales to transportation.

“We have lots of experience in helping farmers sell their products, especially since the pandemic,” Wei said. “We do not only handle the logistics transportation, we also have various sales channels such as through JD’s livestreaming business, JD’s fresh food business SEVEN FRESH and social e-commerce platform Jingxi.”

On September 20th, the three young women launched their first livestream on JD to bring attention to Zhan’s kiwi business. The 1-hour livestream attracted over 320,000 visitors, and over 60,000 kilograms of local kiwi fruit were sold.

Through JD’s logistics business, the company is now helping more companies in the local county where Xinming village is located to explore selling online. JD will provide training seminars to the growers to equip every farmer with e-commerce abilities.
